Ideas are ubiquitous (I even have a friend who has been diagnosed with a rare disease called Idea Diarrhea) and the ability to do something with those ideas are easier than ever. However, so many people seem to be stuck when it comes to turning their ideas into something real. Whenever, I meet an aspiring entrepreneur with an idea, the one thing I always hear is "I'm just not sure where to start or what to do next".
Answer: Get off your ass and do something (in the next 24 hours)!
The single hardest thing to do in the beginning stages of an idea is figuring out where to start. So instead of getting stuck on trying to figure this out...
Skip it and do something *ANYTHING* that relates to your idea.
For example:
- make a list of questions you have and pick one to answer immediately
- research online
- make a Q&D prototype (quick & dirty)
- talk to a friend, co-worker, possible user
- find someone to experiment on
- sketch out 3 solutions for your idea (on a napkin for extra credit)
Why 24 hours? It's no secret why Jack Bauer is a bad-ass and you can be too - but if you don't do something in the next 24 hours, chances are you'll just keep letting that idea slip to the next week and then the next. Before you know it you're dead and wondering why you never did anything with your idea. Even worse, someone else will bring it out and you'll look CRAZY telling people how that was your idea. In the meantime, while you're putting off your idea for a week - old Jack saved the country 4 times (Top 100 facts about Jack Bauer).
